The Game
You and your opponent take turns adding letters to a growing string — the board. The board is always one of three things:
Part of a word — some real word contains it. Safe. The game continues.
A complete word (4+ letters) — whoever finished it just lost the round… if they get caught.
Gibberish — no word contains it. Whoever made it is bluffing… and can be caught too.
Nothing stops you from playing any letter you like — bluffing is part of the game. Finishing a word or making gibberish only costs you if your opponent challenges. Catching them — and not getting caught — is the whole game.
On Your Turn
Do exactly one of these:
Place a letter — drag it anywhere: front, back, or between letters.
Swap or Shuffle — your once-per-round escape moves. Ends your turn.
Challenge — call out the board your opponent left you.
Challenges — How Rounds End
If your opponent leaves the board as…
A complete word (4+ letters) — hit CHALLENGE and win the round instantly. This counts even if the word could keep growing: RANT loses, even though GRANT exists.
Gibberish — hit CHALLENGE and they must prove you wrong by naming a real word that contains the board. If they can't, the round is yours.
Challenging is a gamble. If they prove the board is fine, you lose the round.
Words of 3 letters or fewer are safe — pass right through CAT or TEN.
Defending
Challenged for gibberish? Type any real word that contains the board's letters, in order — board CRA, type CRACK, done. If your word checks out, you win the round. If it doesn't, your challenger takes it.
Swap & Shuffle
Swap — replace one letter on the board with a different one.
Shuffle — rearrange the whole board into a new order.
One of each per round, and they end your turn. Save them for boards where every letter would sink you.
The Fine Print
No repeats — no move (placement, swap, or shuffle) may recreate a board this round has already seen.
Timers — in timed matches your clock runs on your turn. Hit zero and the round goes to your opponent.
The dictionary — words are judged against WordCracker's built-in dictionary of about 200,000 English words. No proper nouns. The Dictionary in the More menu settles any dispute.
Winning
First to the match's round target wins. That's the whole game — keep the board part of a word, and catch your opponent when it isn't.
